ANATHI AMAYIRHA!

FOREWORD!

I'd like to express my sincerest apologies for being unable to help the majority of my audience understand what's being chanted in these Praises for my one and only Grandson. I wrote these Praises in my native Xhosa Language simply because they'd have made no sense had I wrote them in English. Some things for us as Africans, in life carries more meaning and sense if written in our own Language as it carries the whole history of our Ancestors and Family Origins.

I come from the Myirha Clan in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, among many different Clans in our Xhosa Nation. All the ancestral names chanted in their generational order signify the origin of our family name: GUTYUNGWA. This is no different from what we read in the Book of Matthew Chapter One citing the Genealogy of Christ. It is important for me as an African and a Born Again Christian to know where my Forefathers came from.

I wrote these Praises for my First Grandson, Anathi Gutyungwa when he was born in 2020 and extended this Poem today, 6th June 2022. There's no way I can attempt to translate it into English and accommodate those of you who were not born in our Xhosa Tradition, both here at home in South Africa and across the World. All the meaning hereof would be lost in translation if I did and will take a lifetime to finish! Thank you for your understanding.
