Disturbing The Peace!

Peace! The state prevailing during the absence of war. Harmonious relations and freedom from disputes.

The absence of mental stress and anxiety! The general security of public spaces. A treaty to cease hostilities.

All of the above are basic definitions for Peace. There are 32 active wars in 32 countries around the world in 2023! So much for harmony and freedom!

Reasons for war always vary and change colours since the goalposts get shifted more often than not.

I put it to you that since the fall of Adam in the Garden of Eden, this world has never ever tasted the absence of war everywhere and at the same time.

So far, we’re talking about territorial wars which affect the country or certain districts within the borders and become no-go-areas.

Disturbing the peace according to the book of the rich and wealthy individuals, happens when the poor of the poorest knock on their golden doors.

I don’t have time to remind you historically, just how much this simple act of knocking turn the eyes of the rich red with fury and vitriol of hatred!

Equity and Justice are the most important elements for establishing a long and lasting peace between the haves and the have-nots!

Rich people hate and despise both Pinnacles of Peace.. Equity and Justice.

Greedy folks fear they stand to lose much more than the poor and thus criticize and demean every concerted effort as unjustifiable handouts!

Land demarcation and exclusive rezoning become the only solution for the rich to deflect against the poor from behind their expensive high walls.

Disturbing the Peace! Stock markets and high property values are more important for these greedy folks than the prevailing need to feed the hungry.

We don’t want them dirty poor folks to disturb our peace. Stand back and get out of here!

Disturbing the Peace! There’s no generally accepted definition for Truth in the lexicon of the rich.

The Poor are always looking up towards the rich hoping to scrape for crumbs falling off from their silver tables.

The rich are always sneering down upon Poor Folks in their legendary stares and always ready to kick them Poor folks in the mouth.

Disturbing the Peace! The rich and the wealthy would rather leave millions of dollars inheritance to feed their dogs than to share their food with the Poor.

I don’t know just how many times I read in the news over the years, how some rich folks left their wealth to their animals. Shocking but real!

Over the decades many conscientious leaders became the voice for the Poor and challenged all the injustices poor folks are subjected to.

Martin Luther King Junior, Mahatma Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, Steven Bantu Biko, Che Guevara, Bob Marley and many freedom fighters in the world.

These leaders always reminded the Poor that Freedom has never been free.

This world is drenched with the Blood of Poor people that dared to challenge the status-quo!

I cannot begin to tell you about the Bible’s uncompromising stand against the Afflictions of the Poor.

The Poor are mentioned no less than 33 times in the New Testament and more than 150 in the Old Testament.

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the Poor.

And thou shalt have treasure in Heaven: and come take up the cross and follow me.

The rich young man left in a feat of rage after hearing these immortal words from the lips of Christ.

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!

Disturbing the Peace! The only excuse and hideaway of the rich when confronted with the reality on the ground.

Hey, we have enough of our own problems, stop bothering us about them Poor Folks!

For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the Poor Saints which are at Jerusalem.

The Poor tried to vote hoping for sweeping changes but soon discovered the rich use their demagogue politicians to lobby for laws protecting their assets!

Overcoming Poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life – Nelson Mandela.

Wars of nations are fought to change maps. But Poverty Wars are fought to map change – Muhammad Ali

Blessed are the Poor in spirit: for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven – Jesus Christ the Son of God.
