COME ON LALA IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!
Come On Lala It’s Your Birthday!
She landed on these shores screaming and kicking as if
she was saying... Take me back I don’t want to be here!
A tiny orange baby with crinkled forehead pretending to know which
direction she was on!
Occasionally and between long intervals this tiny but confident
Snow White, flashed open her tiny black eyes.
As if agitated by all the staring eyes, she’d snarl and pushed her
nose with clenched fist like a lioness ready to fight anything standing on her way!
Liziwe Lala Gutyungwa is the youngest of my three
beautiful daughters: Yanga and Caroline.
Her arrival signalled a shift from the usual I had gotten used to
as a father.
How can I forget all the nights I spent fighting this
tiny angry baby refusing to sleep in her cot?
She’d scream her lungs out, defiantly stood on her feet and tried
to climb out.
Angry and exhausted this dad would pick her up and
threw her back!
O God, I have never had to fight any of my children to sleep like I
fought Lala! Every evening was the same repeat of all the previous nights.
I can’t recall a single night Lala gave up to sleep
without putting a fight.
But hey. Pikelela was determined to kill and tame this madness
because I knew frustrating as it was... I always won!
Well, everything is history today as my offshoot began
to coil out of her baby madness.
Lala grew bigger and a lot closer to reality she has become today!
Come on Lala It’s Your Birthday! All the tough and
personal struggles and frustration you gave me as a baby, have all been
forgiven!
Wow. Today the young Lala has grown up into an amazing and talented
dancer!
She holds all the sway and swag as she moves to the
beat. I kid you not, my Lala can really dance!
The mirror can testify to this since she gets to watch her dance
more than anyone else!
She’d quietly put on her headphones and be lost in her
own world of dancing.
Sometimes I’d call for her repeatedly without any reply and only to
find her twerking in front of her best friend, the mirror!
Come On Lala It’s Your Birthday! This Happy Afrocentric
Beat is for you and your day. November 9th belongs to you. Just
dance and let it all hang out!
Every baby and child has a story to tell. Lala is no exception to
the rule!
One day her teacher gave the class different words to
write and form a sentence.
Checking Lala’s workbook her mother was shocked by what she read!
I don’t like doing homework! Lala had this sentence
written all over the page!
What a chuckle as we laughed at her audacity to challenge her
teacher like she challenged me as a baby!
Come On Lala It’s Your Birthday! Dance for Tata my
Beauty.
You know I love your dance moves. This is your payback for all the
sleepless nights you caused me!
Every single day I pray the Lord my soul to keep long
enough. To watch my daughter grow up into a strong vision-driven young woman
who fears God!
If Lala is not busy with her books or friends, you’re sure to find
her pinned and lost inside her dancing world!
My prayer for Lala. LORD protect and keep my daughter
clear from all the dangers and evils of this wicked world!
Seal her innocence under the lock and barrel of your Amazing Grace.
Let her grow up knowing all the dangers lurking around
her little world and believing God is with her all the way!
Come On Lala It’s Your Birthday! Keep on dancing and give thanks to
God for all the talents, strength and agility to bring to life all the
imaginable incredible moves for our eyes to behold!
If God Above had an exchange policy on all children, I
wouldn’t swap my Lala for all the silver and gold in this world.
Come On Lala It’s Your Birthday! Stay happy and never forget to count
all your lucky stars at night because today is your Birthday!
Liziwe continues on this her Special Day to march on! Happy-Tappity-Birthday...
Boniswa.
