DO YOU REMEMBER?

Do You Remember!

Like a typical farmer my father was, the man simply and passionately dropped his seeds into the fertile garden and left everything else to nature.

It is never the duty of the farmer to keep digging out the planted seed, checking if it has taken roots already.

Remember, some things are better off when left completely in the care and embrace of nature!

Now, it takes a little while for the ground to bond with the seed before any germination could take place.

Nothing will happen until the very seed corrupts and dies before any signs of new offshoots can be seen.

Hello. This was me in the making and germinating within my mother’s blessed womb.

Like in the case of my father, my mother too; remained oblivious to the volcanic swelling developing until one fine morning.

She woke up feeling nauseous and extremely dizzy. This was me officially putting my mother on notice… I am coming!

From this point onwards, my mother knew she was no longer alone and had to be mindful of her every step.

After all, I was the eighth child to my dear mother. I was coming fast like the twister. This was the time when I was just a big thinking heart. Every heartbeat became a projection, coming with a limb or two.

I find it very fascinating how the heartbeat was able to stretch all this mucous and jelly-like blob into the work of art.

Do I have any memories left in my mind which were indelibly painted by my heart during the digging of my foundation?

Well, I don’t know for sure; except for the fact that I find myself porous and watered down with these unfamiliar thoughts and words.

I hear these whispers from the four winds and start writing possessively.

Dear God in Heaven. I really have no idea why my heart is sometimes flooded with these unfathomable thoughts, all fetal and babyish unheard adventures of the future world!

Do you remember? This is always the first question that crosses my mind as I sit down in desperate attempt to contemplate the task ahead; of putting these incongruent sentences together.

Do you remember? Can you tell just how many twists and turns inside that blob it took your heart to map out the whole structure of your body?

Can you figure out the time, days and months it took in total?

Dear heart. One thing I know for sure is that you are the preeminent supreme part of my life, my body could not have been put together without your marching beats!

Even to this day, after all these decades, my feet are still marching to your inimitable drumbeat!

Nothing in this life can compete with the heart without a heart. The heart is the light, the day and the breeze needed to calm all our fears.

Do you remember that at birth, the baby coughs, sneezes, and cries almost at the same time?

This is Mother Nature, the greatest natal matron; receiving the baby saying, “Welcome to my world my  child, cry no more for I am here for you in every step of the way!”

From the first crawl to the first staggered rise and fall of this determined baby doing everything in its power to stand unassisted; culminating in the audacious first step taken in sheer confidence as this baby giggles with unsurpassed joy!

Do you remember the first day you took off in those quick and successive steps mimicking your very first run?

Everything up to this far has been achieved unconsciously through this baby’s bravado and dream to meet the world.

Nothing gives me joy and fills me with so much beauty in my heart, when the Spirit dials back my life into the baby mode I once was.

Living in the world filled with babies reminds me that God Emmanuel, is still with us.

Do you remember? Please, oh please, cried the Preacher… keep the heart!

Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. Your heart is the memory and the clock of your life in this life.

In the beginning, it was the heart which heralded your arrival in these shores; it will be the heart still, reminding and whispering to your ears… “Your days are about to fold up, it’s time to go back Home!”

Remember this now. It was life in the beginning, in the intermediate, and life will be at the end of your life on this side of Heaven.

Incredibly it is life everlasting calling yonder the grave into the Hereafter with God, your Creator who will determine your eternal space.

Do you remember?
